BIKING THE ISRAEL TRAIL

Parallel to the Israel Trail designed for hikers, there is also a route for bikers. 300 Km. already exist and ridden from Mitzpe Ramon to Eilat, and presently, progress is being made for the northbound trail from Mitzpe Ramon. To bike in the desert on "singles" at all levels is an amazing experience for Israeli bikers as well as for bikers from all over the world .Come and be part of a ''different'' riding experience in the Israeli desert.

BIKING IN THE DESERT

Day 1 - Sunday - WELCOME TO ISRAEL

Arrival and check in at our hotel in Tel Aviv. Meet your tour guide in the hotel lobby at 6 p.m. (18:00), for a briefing of the tour. Overnight in Tel Aviv

Day 2 - Monday - MITZPE RAMON, THE RAMON CRATER

We leave Tel Aviv and drive south to Mitzpe Ramon. After assembling the bicycles our tour begins by riding across Mitzpe Ramon and along the rim of the Ramon Crater - largest geological crater in the world. Overnight in Mitzpe Ramon.

Day 3 - Tuesday - INTO THE CRATER

Cycle along the rim of the Ramon Crater, also known as the promenade, along the vertical Tzinim Cliffs to the point where we can descend a serpentine road-Noah's Trail, all the way to the crater's bottom. Continue riding in the crater, crossing the biggest geological crater in the world, to our night camping site. Overnight in a Beduin tent at Be'erot camping.

Day 4 - Wednesday - FROM THE SPICE ROUTE TO THE ARAVA VALLEY

Continue riding from Ramon Crater along the famous ancient Spice Route, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to Nahal Nekarot. Stop at an ancient Nabatean water cistern, and continue to an ancient Nabatean stronghold and inn (Han). Proceed along the Arava Valley near Tzofar Village. Overnight in a Bedouin tent in the Spice Route Han (Inn).

Day 5 - Thursday - FROM TZOFAR TO PORAN

Continue riding along the desert singles of the Israel Trail. Stop for hiking in the magnificent Barak desert gorge, a track that includes climbing with the use of ladders fixed into the rocks. Continue to Paran village for an overnight in a luxury private room (Zimmer).

Day 6 - Friday - FROM SHIZAFON JUNCTION TO OVDA VALLEY

After an hour's drive from Paran to Shizafon Junction, ride once more on the Israel Trail –on one of its most fascinating segments, through different desert scenery, singles from tops of cliffs,along and on sand dunes. Enjoy the stunning views of the Israeli and Jordanian Arava Valley. Overnight at Neot Semadar-a unique desert kibbutz.

Day 7 - Saturday - JERUSALEM- BIKING FROM THE FOREST TO THE CITY

Leave the desert and the Israel Trail and drive to the Judean Mountains. Before entering Jerusalem, bike along the path surrounding the city, pass through Jerusalem Forest and enter the city. Ride across old and new neighborhoods until we reach our hotel. Pack our bikes. Overnight in Jerusalem

Day 8 - Sunday - THE OLD CITY OF JERUSALEM

Explore the Old City of Jerusalem, holy to the three largest religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Walk on the Via Dolorosa and visit the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Proceed to the Western Wall, the holiest site for Jews, and then to the Moslem quarter. Stop for a view of the Temple Mount and the oriental bazaar.
